Ayşe Hatun Önal — Biography

Ayşe Hatun Önal is a Turkish singer, composer, actress and former model, born on 29 July 1978 in Adana. A graduate of Anadolu University, she began her career after being crowned Türkiye Güzeli at the 1999 Miss Turkey pageant, working for years as a model and television presenter before turning to music.

She first drew attention as a singer with "Çeksene Elini," from her 2003 EP Sonunda, and went on to release her debut studio album, Sustuysam, in 2008, for which she received several awards; the single "Kalbe Ben" reached number nine on the Billboard Türkçe Top 20. Her 2014 and 2015 singles "Çak Bir Selam" and "Güm Güm" both became chart hits and were later included on her second studio album, Selam Dengesiz, released in 2017. Working mostly with electronic production, Önal writes and composes much of her own material, and has also taken on acting roles in film and television.

In May 2026 she returned to music after a long hiatus with a new single, and the following month she was briefly detained and then released as part of a drug investigation, giving a statement that received wide press coverage.
