Ayşe Hatun Önal — Biography

Ayşe Hatun Önal is an artist who carried the modelling and presenting career that opened with her 1999 Miss Turkey title into pop singing built on electronic backing, writing the words and music of most of her songs herself. "Çeksene Elini", "Kalbe Ben" and "Çak Bir Selam" are among her best-known songs. In May 2026 she returned to music after a long break with a new song, "Su Damlası".

After finishing high school in Adana she entered the Public Relations department of Anadolu University, but left after the second year to devote herself to modelling. In 1999 she won first place in the Miss Turkey contest organised by Kanal D, and in December she represented her country at Miss World 1999 in London. She took diction lessons from Can Gürzap and presented on a private channel. She entered acting with Bu Film Bitmez (2001), Derman Bey (2001) and Mumya Firarda (2002), and played the character Ayşe Hatun in the film Her Şey Aşktan.

Her first step in music was the EP Sonunda, released in 2003 on the Universal Müzik label; the video for "Çeksene Elini", directed by Murad Küçük, drew attention, but she paused when the record company closed. In April 2008 she released her first album, Sustuysam, on Sony BMG and won several awards for it; "Kalbe Ben" rose to number nine on the Billboard Türkçe Top 20. "Çak Bir Selam" (2014) and "Güm Güm" (2015) climbed high on the charts, and together with "Şeytan Tüyü" and "Sirenler" they were gathered on the album Selam Dengesiz in February 2017. In October 2019 she released the single "Efsane".
