Ayfer Elmastaşoğlu — Biography
Born in İzmir on 16 February 1944, Ayfer Elmastaşoğlu spent his entire playing career with his hometown club Altay. The brother of fellow national footballer Ayhan Elmastaşoğlu, who played for both Altay and Galatasaray, he captained Altay to the club's first Turkish Cup title in 1967.
After retiring as a player, Elmastaşoğlu moved into coaching and returned to Altay as manager, leading the club to its second and final Turkish Cup triumph in 1980. He spent much of his managerial career with clubs in the Aegean region. Elmastaşoğlu died in İzmir on 13 January 2026, and an amateur league division in the city continues to be held under his name in his memory.
