Attila Olgaç — Biography

Attila Olgaç has built a career of more than fifty years on the stage, and it was as Ali Kılıç Yağızgil, known as Kılıç, in the series Kurtlar Vadisi that the Turkish actor reached a wide audience. His father was Kahraman Olgaç, the first president of the Turkish Chess Federation. He continues to work in film and television in recent years.

He graduated from the theatre department of the Ankara State Conservatory and made his stage debut in 1969 at the Ankara State Theatre in Arthur Miller's The Crucible (Cadı Kazanı). He went on to roles in Jean Anouilh's Becket, Turan Oflazoğlu's IV. Murat and Max Frisch's Andorra, continued through the 1970s with plays such as Bir Umut İçin, Düşüş and Miller's A View from the Bridge, and in the 1980s appeared in Shakespeare's King Lear and Julius Caesar. In 1974, during his military service as a reserve officer, he was sent to Cyprus. In 1989 he presented a quiz programme on TRT.

On television he played Feyzullah in Vay Anam Vay and Hidayet Hoca in Hayat Bilgisi. Kurtlar Vadisi brought him to the widest audience, and in later years he shared behind-the-scenes recollections about cast members' decisions to leave that series. In the 2020s he appeared in the series Gelsin Hayat Bildiği Gibi and in the films Türkler Çıldırmış Olmalı 2: Mavi Vatan, Dünya Varmış, Bakkal Amca: Mahmut Tuncer and Geniş Aile 5.
