Asya — Biography

Asya, the stage name of Tülay Keçialan (born 24 February 1965 in Eskişehir), is a Turkish pop singer and songwriter. Drawn to music from her primary school years, she sang in a Turkish folk music choir in middle school and, while attending Ahmet Kanadlı High School in Eskişehir, won first prize as a soloist in the folk music branch of the Milliyet newspaper's inter-high-school music competition.

After high school she began her music career in Bodrum and continued it in Ankara, performing under the stage name Tülay Saygın until her first album. She was a backing vocalist for Nilüfer between 1990 and 1994 and released her debut album, Asya, in 1994. Over her career she has worked with Onno Tunç, Garo Mafyan, Mustafa Sandal, Gökhan Kırdar, İskender Paydaş and Özgür Buldum.
