Asım Pars — Biography
Born Asim Paščanović on 1 April 1976 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Asım Pars relocated to Turkey in 1993 as the Bosnian war broke out and acquired Turkish citizenship the following year. Standing roughly 2.11 m tall, he spent his career as a center for Turkish clubs and represented Turkey's national team, helping the side win silver at EuroBasket 2001 and claiming multiple domestic championships along the way.
Pars died on 23 September 2024 at his family's home in Bosnia and Herzegovina; authorities attributed his death to suicide. He was laid to rest near Kalesija, the region where he had grown up.
