Ankaralı Namık — Biography
Born Namık Uğurlu on 30 April 1976 in Yeşilöz, a village in the Kurşunlu district of Çankırı province, the singer later became known by his stage name Ankaralı Namık, a reference to Ankara and the regional folk style he performed. After studying at İnönü University, he built a career performing Ankara-style folk music (oyun havası), becoming widely recognized for songs such as "Arabada Beş, Evde Onbeş" and "Dar Geldi Sana Ankara," which were sung in the distinctive Ankara dialect.
On 19 September 2015 he was severely injured in a traffic accident along with his wife. About a month later, on 18 October 2015, he died after falling from the seventh floor of his home in Ankara. While the exact circumstances of his death were the subject of speculation in parts of the press, it is established that he died from the fall shortly after the earlier accident. He was buried in his home province of Çankırı.
