Alper Balaban — Biography
Alper Balaban was born on 9 August 1987 in Heilbronn, Germany, and grew up nearby in Gemmingen. He started out in football with SV Gemmingen and SV Sinsheim before joining the youth setup at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, where he spent four years.
He moved to Fenerbahçe in 2005, making 58 appearances and scoring 16 goals for the club's reserve side, and also spent a season on loan at Kocaelispor. In 2008 he was capped for Turkey's U-21 side. Later in his career he was loaned out again, this time from Eskişehirspor to third-tier club Linyitspor.
On 5 April 2010 he was seriously injured in a car accident near Bretten, Germany, and died from his injuries a week later on 12 April 2010, at the age of 22.
