Ajdar — Biography

Mehmet Anık (born 10 February 1973 in Mardin), known by the stage name Ajdar, is a Turkish singer-songwriter and internet celebrity of Kurdish descent. He studied mechanical engineering at Trakya University and worked in the field for eight years.

He entered music in 2003 with the pop tune "Alırım Senden Tüm Yetkimi". His music video "Çikita Muz" became one of the most-watched in Turkey, after which he appeared on a run of national television shows, where his unconventional exchanges with hosts and guests made him a fixture of Turkish pop culture and earned him the nickname "hiperstar". His better-known songs include "Nane Nane", "Tu Tu Tu Tu Tut Tut Tuğba", "Şakşuka Tiyatrosu", "Turp Gibiyim", "Hişt Hişt Hülya" and "Çatla Patla".

He returned in 2012 with the song "Şahdamarım". In 2026 the conditions he was reported to have set for appearing on an internet show drew wide coverage in the Turkish media and brought him back into the public eye after a long absence.
