Ahmet Yıldırım — Biography
Ahmet Yıldırım (born 25 February 1974 in Amasya) is a former Turkey international footballer and a football coach. Standing 1.88 m, he is described purely as a defender by French and Russian Wikipedia, while the Turkish and Portuguese editions add that he also operated in front of the back line as a holding midfielder.
His name is associated with Adanaspor, Ankaragücü, Ankaraspor, İstanbulspor, Samsunspor, Malatyaspor, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe. The most celebrated chapter came at Galatasaray: German Wikipedia places him in the squad that won the 1999-2000 UEFA Cup, the Turkish double and the UEFA Super Cup, and reached the Champions League quarter-finals in 2000-01. With Turkey he took part in the 2003 Confederations Cup, finishing third.
After retiring he moved into management, and the sources freeze different moments: Portuguese Wikipedia has him in charge of Pendikspor, while English Wikipedia says he last coached 52 Orduspor. Because Ahmet Yıldırım is a very common Turkish name, current news items bearing it have not been used in this biography.
