Ahmet Özacar — Biography

Ahmet Refik Özacar was a Turkish international footballer, born on 8 May 1937 in the Lüleburgaz district of Kırklareli and passing away on 23 October 2005 in Istanbul. He is remembered as one of the most storied figures in Beşiktaş history, having spent his entire senior career with the club from 1955 to 1971 without ever transferring elsewhere.

Because another player on the squad, Ahmet Berman, was older and shared his first name, fans and press began calling Özacar "Küçük Ahmet" (Little Ahmet) and Berman "Büyük Ahmet" (Big Ahmet) — a nickname that stuck with him for the rest of his career. He was a key part of the Beşiktaş side that won back-to-back Turkish championships, and to this day club officials and supporters gather at his grave each year on the anniversary of his death to honor his memory.
