Ahmet Erol — Biography

Ahmet Erol was born in 1921 in the Çivril district of Denizli and, during his playing days, was better known by his nickname "Bego Ahmet." A left-back by position, he spent much of his career with Fenerbahçe and also represented Turkey's national team, earning four caps in 1948–1949; that same year he was named to Turkey's squad for the 1948 Summer Olympics, though he did not appear in any of the tournament's matches.

After retiring as a player, Erol remained closely tied to Fenerbahçe, later serving the club as an assistant coach and as a member of its board of directors — a career that made him one of the more memorable figures in the club's history. He died in Istanbul on 15 June 2012.
