Ahmet Aslan — Biography
Ahmet Aslan was born in 1971 in the Hozat district of Tunceli and is a Turkish musician of Zaza heritage who performs in Turkish, Zazaki and Kurdish. He studied at the Istanbul Technical University Conservatory between 1993 and 1996 and has lived in Germany since 1996.
He is known for creating an original instrument called the “Di-Tar,” combining elements of the classical guitar and the bağlama. In developing it, he drew on input from figures such as Martin Greve, Paco Peña, Carlo Domeniconi and Antonis Anissegos, refining the design with the help of instrument maker Süleyman Aslan.
Beyond music, Aslan also appeared on screen, playing the character Dervi in the 2017 film Zer.
