Adnan Erkan — Biography

Adnan Erkan is a football man best known as Ankaragücü's goalkeeper in the 1990s and, after retiring, as a sporting director at Süper Lig clubs. Born in Denizli, he played for Ankaragücü and Denizlispor, and also wore the shirts of Konyaspor and Mersin İdmanyurdu.

His national-team story peaked at the 1996 European Championship, where he was the third goalkeeper in the 23-man squad but did not play in the tournament. He was called up to the senior side 11 times and appeared only once, in the match against Azerbaijan on 9 April 1996; he also played once for the under-21s and twice for the Olympic team.

After hanging up his gloves he moved into management. He was Denizlispor's sporting director from 2010 to 2012 and, at the end of the 2011-12 season, was appointed coach of Denizli Belediyespor in the Second League. He became Ankaragücü's sporting director in July 2019 and the two parted in August 2020. He then held the same post at Konyaspor, which ended in March 2022. In June 2022 he was named sporting director of Gaziantep FK, and the club parted ways with him in September 2023.
