Abdullah Ziya Kozanoğlu — Biography

Abdullah Ziya Kozanoğlu was born on 16 January 1906 in Istanbul. After studying architecture at Istanbul Technical University he worked as an architect and building contractor, while also making his mark on Turkish popular literature as a novelist and comic-book writer; adventure stories such as Kızıltuğ and Cengiz Han'ın Hazineleri were later adapted into films. He was also active in sports administration, serving as the 10th president of Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club.

Kozanoğlu died in Istanbul in 1966. He is remembered as the grandfather of model and actress Yasemin Kozanoğlu, and the adventure novels he wrote continued to be adapted for the screen after his death, keeping his name alive in Turkish popular culture.
