Abdullah Oğuz — Biography
Abdullah Oğuz was born on 17 June 1958 in Istanbul and studied at Vefa High School before earning a degree from Marmara University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. He later moved to the United States, where he founded ANS International in New York in 1983 and began his career producing commercials; he subsequently established ANS Prodüksiyon in Turkey and partnered with international companies such as Fremantle International to bring game-show formats to Turkish television.
From the 1990s onward Oğuz moved from advertising, television series and music videos into feature filmmaking. His credits as director and producer include Asmalı Konak, Bliss (Mutluluk) and Everything About Mustafa, and he has received six Golden Butterfly Awards over the course of his career.
More recently he directed the Netflix series Mezarlık and the Fenerbahçe-themed film Zaferin Rengi, and in 2026 he began filming a new Netflix series, İstanbul Hatırası, adapted from a novel by Ahmet Ümit.
