Abdülhamit Yıldız — Biography

Abdülhamit Yıldız is a Turkish midfielder raised in the Netherlands, where he started out in football, and went on to build his professional career in Turkey. Standing 1.86 m tall, he stayed in the game after his playing days and is now associated with Iğdır FK.

He moved to the Netherlands with his family as a child and took his first steps in the youth system of HVV Hollandia. His performances drew the attention of scouts from bigger clubs, and he moved to FC Volendam's academy, where he stayed until 2007 before joining the first team. He made his official debut for Volendam on 17 August 2007 against Fortuna Sittard and became a regular starter from then on.

In the winter break of the 2009-10 season he accepted an offer from Gençlerbirliği and came to Turkey. Head coach Thomas Doll did not use him in the first team, so he played only for the club's A2 side; in 2010-11 he was loaned to Hacettepe, Gençlerbirliği's feeder team, to gain match experience. He then signed for Kasımpaşa in the summer of 2011 and for Şanlıurfaspor at the start of 2012-13. Elsewhere in Turkey he also pulled on the shirts of Balıkesirspor, Karşıyaka, Altay and Eskişehirspor, and he renewed his contract with Karşıyaka in 2017. In April 2024 he became sporting director at Iğdır FK, and in March 2026 he returned to the club.
