Abdülaziz Demircan — Biography

Abdülaziz Demircan is a Turkish goalkeeper of Kurdish descent whose path ran from Diyarbakır to the Süper Lig and the Turkey A2 national side. Besides Turkey he played in Sweden, and his 2018 departure from Dalkurd received wide coverage in the Turkish press.

He began as an amateur goalkeeper at Diyarbakır Büyükşehir Belediyespor. After signing a professional contract in 2009 he was loaned to Diyarbakır Kayapınar for a season and on his return kept goal in 38 matches. On 29 June 2012 he moved to Kardemir Karabükspor and made his Süper Lig debut against Gaziantepspor on 5 May 2013. He was third-choice in 2013-14 and did not play, but early in 2014-15, when first-choice Boy Waterman was injured, he started four matches in a row. In the same season, on 14 October 2014, he played the full 90 minutes in the friendly in which Turkey's A2 side, under Fatih Terim, beat England C 2-0; he kept a clean sheet. On 11 July 2015 he transferred to Kayserispor and later signed a two-year contract with Konyaspor.

In June 2018 he parted ways with the Swedish side Dalkurd; the departure followed an Instagram post featuring Atatürk and 1919, which was reported to have angered the club's supporters. He later played for Osmanlıspor, leaving in 2019. Amed SK, Etimesgut Belediyespor and the amateur Sultanbeyli Belediyespor also appear among his later clubs.
